Ionic Workshop at ng-Vegas: Building Mobile Apps with Ionic

Katie Ginder-Vogel

Software engineer Terence Carroll is teaching an Ionic workshop at ng-Vegas May 7-8. You don’t have to have a ticket to the conference to buy a ticket to the Ionic workshop, so if you’re in the Vegas area and want to learn Ionic, now’s your chance! There will also be two Ionic talks at the conference, by Troy Miles and our own Josh Bavari, so it’s well worth your while to attend.

The workshop will offer a hands-on introduction to mobile development using Ionic. Create, build, and publish a cross-platform mobile app for the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. You’ll set up a mobile development environment, plan and design your app, build the UI, add logic, test, and deploy to the app stores.

You don’t have to have previous mobile development experience, but we do recommend that you have a solid understanding of JavaScript and familiarity with Angular and that you understand basic HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Some comfort with the command line will be helpful to you.

Here’s an overview of the topics that will be covered in the workshop:

  • Native vs Hybrid Apps
  • Introduction to Ionic
  • UI Components
  • Ionic CLI
  • Hands-On: Build Mobile App
